How do you line up (heavy) ice cream cones, so that they stand upright and make sure the cones don’t come into contact with the material that they stand in? My drive-through experience at Macca’s provided a bit of inspiration to the display for this week’s pops. When you order soft serve at the drive through, they hand them over in these little cardboards with holes in them and a little paper wrapper around the cones. Of course, the soft serve cones are flat at the bottom, and thus more stable, but then again, these ice cream cake pops weren’t going to melt so I’d call it even.
Ice cream cone cake pops actually pack a bigger punch per serving than a standard size round cake pop. The mini waffle cones I got from Woolies is pretty large, and I had to shave off 1cm off the top to accomodate a not-too-heavy amount of cake. Even then, it still took about twice a regular serving to make a ‘scoop’. Add the cone to it, and the embellishments (those little mock wafers are Kit Kats) and it’s a meal on its own! I tend to get carried away when I get on a project and was tempted to try soft serve shapes and paddle-pop-stick style ice creams, but just barely managed to contain myself.
I also revisted Peppa Pig cake pops that same weekend. They even lay on the same ‘grass’. 🙂
