This gets the prize for the quirkiest cake pops I’ve done yet. There is a Pancake Queen, with a dress topped with pancakes and blocks of butter!

It’s based on a card game called Sleeping Queens that was entirely new to me, but was the birthday girl’s favourite game. It was quite fiddly because of the many individual details unique to each character but I was determined to make it all edible because I dislike adding printed materials and such to cake or cake pops.

I’ve made cake pops for corporates and for wedding favors and such, but I must admit, I love making cake pops for kids most. There is nothing quite like the glee in which kids shamelessly consume cake pop after cake pop. I love it when they see their favourite characters come to ‘life’ in 3D, and in completely edible form. In this case, the mom came with the birthday girl to pick up the pops and I saw the little lady’s eyes light up when she caught sight of her cake pops. She started scanning them immediately to pick out her very own.

Hi Su, It’s so wonderful to see these on your blog. You did a fantastic job of taking a slightly odd and unusual request and magically turning it into fabulous cake pops! The birthday girl and all her friends absolutely loved them. I was really impressed with your attention to detail and fast turnaround time especially as I came to you only a week before the big event. Thank you again – you’re a genius!
